The Berthoud Community Library is more than a house of books. It is a lively room where kids learn that reading doesn’t have to be stodgy and boring by participating in story times that involve movement and reading to furry, four-legged friends. It’s a safe space where all ideas are valued and encouraged through writer groups, book clubs, and STEM-based activities. It’s a place where small business owners can go for resources that will help their businesses succeed, and kids can find a quiet space to do their homework on computers set up to keep them safe.

Bored with your home’s activities? The BCL has board games, DVD’s, hobby bags, and Kit & Kaboodles which include everything you need to learn something new in a fun and engaging way. Your library card also allows you access to free online magazine subscriptions, newspapers from around the world, and movies. For those who, for whatever reason, were unable to complete high school, our library offers scholarships to a program that allows you to complete your HS degree while also offering career training. Have a teen about to become a driver? They can access DMV practice tests to help ensure they’re ready to pass their test and know the rules of the road.

Libraries are the heart of every small community, offering a place where everyone is welcome to come in, use the computers, browse the shelves, and maybe grab a few things to keep you entertained at home. For some people, it’s the only place they’ll have the opportunity to hold a conversation with other people and that’s just as important as books, programs, and computers.

“Awesome staff, excellent young readers programs. Very impressive service for a small town library - can run with the big dogs all day.” W. Sheehan, Online Review
